Leeds United reportedly turned down a bid in the region of £10m from Russian side Krasnodar for centre-back Pontus Jansson last week.

Jansson had his problems at Leeds last season, with the 27-year-old’s commitment to the cause called into question on a number of occasions.

He signed a new long-term contract at Elland Road in August, however, and is working his way back to full sharpness after missing pre-season due to the 2018 World Cup.

There is no question that Jansson is a fine centre-back when all is well, and he took the chance to hail the Leeds fans during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, which is always a smart move.

Leeds have a massive game against Middlesbrough in the Championship on Friday night, and Jansson is sure to be in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI for the top-of-the-table clash.
